To Anna…

To my beloved godmother Anna ♡

anna

She stepped into glory
her feet off the ground,
with heavenly anthems
and joyful sounds… Her mother
Her sister
Her husband was there,
delighted by her arrival
great love everywhere…
She blinked in the radiance
not believing her eyes,
when she saw their faces
not a tear did she cry… All suffering was gone,
her form became bright
in the splendor of eternity
perfect in His sight… A magnificent human
touched by the divine
living her years out
fully alive… Always happy to see me
she had real flare,
we’d hit the town,
like millionaires…
“Maybe anchovy toast
or Cappuccinos and cake,
We’ll spoil our figures,
Oh dear, it’s too late!
Maybe try on some dresses,
I’ll help with the zip,
But oh my darling
It won’t
go over my hips…
Let’s splash out and buy some woolies treats
It won’t really matter
if we have a little cheat
You only live once
I would hear her say
Let’s enjoy the blessings
of another day… I’ll miss your magnificence
and your elegant style
your sense of humor,
and endearing smile…
Your kindness
Your generosity
Your repartee
I’ll treasure the moments
each happy memory… Go and rock heaven and enjoy the feast,
with resplendent soirees
that never cease… I know your safe in the arms of our Lord
above heavenly throngs
can you hear my applause?…

I light a candle

“There is a candle in your heart, ready to be kindled.
There is a void in your soul, ready to be filled.
You feel it, don’t you?”
― Mawlana Jalal-al-Din Rumi

I Light a candle in remembrance of you.
I never thought
I’d
make it through,
but your magnificence is the air I breathe,
a tangible presence
in faith believed.
I’ve seen the signs,
held your hand,
scattered my dreams on desolate lands.
The breath of God sustains my being,
in movements of grace,
I’ve seen the unseen.

Interflowing

“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.”
― Lao Tzu

interflow

when you relinquish control…
your substance
becomes liquid
and
you
melt
into free-flowing,
merciful ether…
absorbed by something greater than your little self…

Unease
dilutes
and vapor is released
into oneness
interflowing
with subtle
and tranquil
fusions
of becoming
and the constancy of just being…

you dissolve into your own luminescence…

Metamorphosis

“Perhaps the butterfly is proof that you can go through a great deal of darkness,
yet become beautiful.”

catacombs of change are dark and lonely,
hidden from sight,
confession is holy.

in the darkness,
the isolation,
breath stills,
attempting sedation.
and like the chrysalis
burdened by form,
in sanctuaries of renewal, faith is reborn….

perfectly sheltered from light and sound,
reemergence
of life,
quite profound.

wrapped in sheaths
inside depth,
once awakened
by arcane strength.

freed from the gravity of Earth’s dead weight,
bursting with deliverance,
we emancipate…

Letting it All Out

Thank you for your beautiful words Peacock poetry.

Peacock Poetry

I noticed in the very fresh stages of grief that some people just didn’t know where to put themselves. Some avoided all reference to any remotely personal line of conversation  and some gave me a wide berth as my grief obviously challenged their ability to be with their own emotions. Others wanted to make suggestions and give advice and there were also those that used the opportunity to offload their own repressed grief, relieved for the opportunity to make a socially acceptable connection through my circumstances. This was challenging as quite frankly I was dealing with my own shit and did not have the energy to bolster others in the way which usually came so naturally.

None of this was anyone’s fault of course. We are so ill-prepared to deal with our own grief let alone anyone else’s. There is no manual for these sort of situations and we are…
